A new greenfield airport in Hollongi will soon be seen in Arunachal Pradesh. Situated about 15 km away from Itanagar, the airport will help in connecting the state by air. An estimated cost of INR 645 crore is being spent on building the new greenfield airport.
The Airports Authority of India will develop this new airport. Soon, it’s terminal building, city-side works, pavements, and air-side works will be developed.
The new Greenfield airport will be accessible for operations of A-321 category aircraft. According to reports, to accommodate the A-321 type of aircraft, the airport will also get its runway extended by 500 m.
It is being built in such a way that during the peak hours of the day, the airport will be able to accommodate 200 passengers. All modern facilities for passengers will be available at the airport. The airport is going to have eight check-in counters with an area of 4100 sqm.
The airport will be all ready to start its operation on August 15, 2022. According to reports, 80 percent of the work on the airside has already been completed. With a rainwater harvesting system and sustainable landscape, the terminal will be an energy-efficient building. Among other things, the airport will also have a medical center and a fire station.
