Himachal Pradesh’s most popular adventure sport, Paragliding will restart from the 15th of September, Paragliding is the most popular activity among the tourist who visits Himachal Pradesh. Bir and Billing being the best destination for Paragliding World Cup have gained popularity in recent times.
Since the lockdown in March, the paragliding business has suffered greatly. The less number of tourists has also affected those who are associated with the sport.
In June, Paragliding operations resumed for a brief period and then were shut down again due to the ban on domestic flights and tourists. However, this week, the state government of Himachal Pradesh has given permission to restart Paragliding for good. This move is part of the Unlock 4.0 which is the fourth phase of unlocking in India.
This decision will boost tourism and help those involved in the tourism business sustain their livelihood. According to the government, all Paragliding activities will be permitted throughout the state of Himachal Pradesh.
The International World Cup Championship is also held in the Billing area of Himachal and is scheduled to be held in October 2020. However, there is no certainty that the event will be held due to the pandemic situation.
As of now, there are no preparations that are being done for the event and no government officials have confirmed any details about the event. Bir and Billing is one of the top 10 Paragliding destinations in the world, the World Cup is held at this place almost every year.
Along with Paragliding, many other nearby destinations such as Dharamsala is also a popular destination for the people who wish to visit more of Himachal. Apart from paragliding, Bill and Billing is ideal for Mountain Biking, Eco-tourism activities, Buddhist studies, and Meditation.
