Yesterday, on 24th August the Himachal Pradesh government announced some changes in the restrictions imposed on tourists while entering Himachal Pradesh’s borders. Despite the central government’s decision to open all borders and removing all restrictions on inter-state travel, Himachal stayed closed for the tourists.

As per the decision taken in yesterday’s meeting with the government officials, there will be no need for an ‘Entry Pass’ to enter Himachal. However, the traveler needs to register online (https://covid19epass.hp.gov.in/applications/epass/apply) which is still mandatory. This registration will help the government to track the COVID 19 infections.

Also, COVID tests are still mandatory for the adults, and for the children below 10 years of age no test is required. The test now has to be done 96 hours before entering Himachal instead of 72 hours.

Earlier, the tourists will have to book a 5 day stay in a hotel before being allowed into the state. But now, the minimum stay requirement is just 2 days.

It is to be seen if there will be any positive outcome in terms of increased tourist flow from these relaxations.
