Government refused permission for Sunburn festival in Goa

The Chief Minister of Goa has rejected the request for the festival today.

The world-famous (EDM) Electronic Dance Music Festival called Sunburn Festival, is an annual festival that attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world to Goa. During the pandemic, the festival did not find the deserved success in terms of tourist inflow. This year, the organizers announced that they will be hosting the Sunburn festival, however, the state government of Goa refused to permit the organizers.

The Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Pramod Sawant said today that they have officially rejected the permission to host the festival. The Sunburn festival was scheduled in December with world-famous artists planning to play Electronic Dance Music at the festival. The organizers are still trying hard to get permission from the government and have also stated that only fully vaccinated participants will be allowed.

But as of now, there is no permission to host the festival. The government officials have stated that the large gathering of the festival is most likely to be risky in terms of the spread of Covid-19 in Goa. Several politicians are protesting against the decision to cancel the festival. The event is still scheduled for 27-29 December in Vagator village situated in North Goa.

In the coming weeks, more details will be available if the Chief Minister is ready to change his decision in this regard. As of now, there is no certainty of the event being held this year.
