Today (24th August) the government officials are conducting a board meeting to review the restrictions that were imposed on the tourists entering Himachal borders. This meeting is a result of the demands the hotel associations made with the government.

The hotel industry has asked the government to relax restrictions to make traveling to Himachal easier. In the past weeks, many tourists were turned back and policies for entering the borders were made strict.

Many hotels were not able to pay the bills to sustain their businesses. That made livelihood hard for them and they are demanding the government to take the issue seriously. Hotel owners also told the officials that the many tourists were harassed and no reason was given to them for restricting their entry in Himachal.

Currently, the tourists have decided not to visit Himachal since it is difficult to enter. Most of the tourists were unwilling to stay for the required period of minimum of 5 days as per the policy.

Presently, Rajasthan, Goa, and Kerala have no restrictions on the arrival of the tourists. But Himachal needs to change its policies to increase the number of tourists willing to come to the state. After today’s meeting, the decisions on relaxing the travel restrictions will be announced.
