The most famous hill stations in the state of West Bengal are Darjeeling and Kalimpong. It has been more than 6 months since the tourists were completely banned from visiting the state due to the COVID pandemic. It will be good news for the local business and the tourists alike to know that the tourism activities are now open.
People usually travel to these destinations to experience the various kinds of tea that are grown in these hills. The large tea estates in Darjeeling are among the most sought after destinations to relax during the visit in these hills.
The government of West Bengal and the tourism department have announced that the hotels and restaurants can now resume their businesses as usual. However, the hotels and restaurants in the containment zones will open only by acquiring permission from the authorities.
The containment zones are the designated areas where the highest number of COVID cases are reported. These areas will be open for the public but the hotels and restaurants in these areas will have to strictly follow the social distancing norms and occupancy limitations.
All hotels and restaurants throughout the state of West Bengal will have to sanitize their premises regularly, perform thermal checks, ensure the wearing of masks and gloves.
Along with these rules, the hotels have been strictly instructed to keep the room vacant for 3 days once the guest leaves. These 3 days will help the thorough sanitization of the room and also check the spread of COVID.
The buffet meals are strictly prohibited and no hotel or restaurant is allowed to host any large gathering where people eat together.
As far as quarantine rules are concerned, All asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 will have to take care of themselves and no institutional quarantine will be done for these people. All tourists are required to download the contact tracing app called “Aarogya Setu”.
