The chief minister of the state of Meghalaya recently inaugurated cottages called ‘Orchid Log Houses’ overseeing the Mawdiangdiang range. This township of cottages comes under the program called ‘Swadesh Darshan’ from the Ministry of Tourism.
These cottages have also been popularly called ‘Isolated Cottages’ because of their location. These cottages are away from the main city and are promoted in such a way that we can continue the tourism activity while keeping the ‘Social Distancing’ in place. These cottages have a good infrastructure and the staff is well-trained for hosting tourists and taking care of their needs.
The Chief Minister said that the training of all the hotel staff throughout the state of Meghalaya has started. The training ensures the development of the soft-skills among the hotel staff along with health and safety protocol training. This will ensure that the hotels are well-equipped with the know-how of properly handling the tourists.
The tourism department is positive that the log houses will be a success in the coming future and will be among the best tourist destinations. Many other new tourist sites are currently under development and will be announced soon.
The state government of Meghalaya is working hard to push the revival of the tourism sector which has been badly hit throughout India. The new projects, training of the staff along with health and safety infrastructure is needed to start this new wave of post-COVID tourism.
