The Sundarbans are about to get updated tourism infrastructure

Eco-friendly hotels and entertainment arenas are two of the main types of infrastructure that are going to be developed soon

Indranil Sen, West Bengal State Tourism Minister, informed the Assembly about the West Bengal government’s plans to improve tourism infrastructure in the Sundarbans. A host of new infrastructure possibilities in the Sundarbans is being planned by the state government along with the private sector.

Eco-friendly hotels and entertainment arenas are two of the main types of infrastructure that are going to be developed soon in the forests of the Sundarbans.

The state of West Bengal has introduced a wide range of package tours in the Sundarbans for travelers from the city. The government has also introduced vessels that will ferry them to the jungles and drop them back. For further infrastructure development in the area, the government is looking at other avenues.

In the next six months, the government of West Bengal is planning to start houseboat services in the Sundarbans, much like the ones in Kashmir.

With a large mangrove forest, the Sundarbans are one of the most unique destinations in the country. It is also home to a host of unique species, including the Bengal Tiger. Around 400 majestic tigers are living in the magical forest. Traveling to this unique and distinctive destination should be on your West Bengal travel bucket list.
