The decision to open the state borders was taken to boost the ailing tourism sector. Tourism businesses need a boost to help people sustain their livelihood during these trying times.
The following are the states that are now opened up for tourists through inter-state travel.
- Himachal Pradesh
This state is a popular tourist destination for short vacation seekers. The most popular destinations are Dharamsala, Kasol, and Shimla. After being closed since March, the state has started to allow tourists from other states to visit.
However, the government of Himachal Pradesh has imposed some restrictions for the tourists such as obtaining an online pass, a COVID test report, and the hotel booking of a minimum of 2 days before traveling to the state. In the coming weeks, it is expected that all the restrictions will be relaxed for the tourists.
This state is a popular tourist destination among the domestic as well as international tourists from around the world. The state is full of tourist destinations such as Museums, Palaces, Monuments, Art, and Culture. Also, the most popular wildlife reserves are in Rajasthan that helps in the conservation of Tigers of India. These reserves are Sariska Tiger reserve and Ranthambore National Park.
The state of Uttarakhand popular for its hill stations and natural setting is open for the domestic tourists. The UNESCO world heritage site the Valley of Flowers is the most popular destination among the tourists. Also, the pilgrimage of ‘Char Dham Yatra’ is expected to open for domestic tourists in the coming weeks.
- Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government has also announced the opening of all tourism businesses and tourism sites. All hotels, resorts, and hospitality businesses are now available for booking. Madhya Pradesh has many tourist destinations worth visiting. These include wildlife sanctuaries such as Bandhavgarh, Panna, and Ratapani and national parks.
Goa is the most sought after vacation destination for domestic and international tourists. It is now open for vacation seekers and the upcoming tourist season starting October is expected to receive a good number of tourists.
The other state such as Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Karnataka have also fully opened their state borders for tourism.
