The Central government of India is currently planning to resume the tourist visas for international tourists. Issuing of tourist visas was suspended for more than a year. This was because of the pandemic restrictions and a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The Ministry of Home Affairs in India said that the resumption of tourist visa services will be done in a phased manner over some time. It is quite likely that the government will only allow fully vaccinated tourists to travel. More details will be released to the public soon.
Tourists visas have been suspended since March 2020. Due to the ban on international flights, the tourism industry has suffered greatly. Many tourism businesses closed down their operations and are looking for a recovery soon. With the resumption of tourists visa and international flights, the tourism economy is most likely to bounce back.
