The Valley of Flowers has been made into a National park which is located in the North Chamoli area of Uttarakhand. The Valley of Flowers is famous for its beautiful meadows and a rich variety of flowers.
The state government of Uttarakhand has announced that the tourists are now allowed to travel to the Valley of Flowers. Tourists from outside the state of Uttarakhand will also be allowed to visit the valley.
The Valley of Flowers has been given a UNESCO World Heritage Site status. It stays open for tourists from the month of June until October. However, due to the pandemic, the state government has barred the entry of the tourists from outside of the state to enter the state. The state government allowed the tourists to enter the state, to help generate the much-needed revenue from tourists during the peak season.
The main requirement for the tourists visiting the state of Uttarakhand is to present the COVID negative medical report before entering the borders.
According to the forest minister, it was the first time that the Valley of Flowers got closed for the tourists. The Valley remains snow-covered for most of the year but during the tourist season there approximately 15,000 tourists that visit the valley every year. The decision to open the valley for tourists will bring in a large number of tourists which will help in the revenue generation.
The forest authorities have done a lot of work in clearing out all the routes for the tourists. Also, many patrolling officers have been appointed to stop the poaching of wildlife in the area. Efforts to preserve the local wildlife are also being done by the forest department.
